Why invest in Panama

Panama occupies a strategic position in the regional and international context. Its location between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the Panama Canal and its air and maritime connectivity have made the country a platform for connecting with the main markets of America and an attractive destination for investment.

The City of Panama is both a vibrant metropolis and the gateway to tropical getaways. As one of the most sophisticated capitals in the region, it is often referred to as the «Miami of Central America,» and attracts expatriates and international visitors from all over the world every year.

For those evaluating an investment apartment — such as those offered by Baula Residences in Amador — this translates into specific advantages.

Permanent residency from US$300,000

The Qualified Investor Visa allows a foreigner to obtain permanent residency in Panama directly without going through a temporary residence stage by investing a minimum of $300,000 in real estate free of encumbrances, which must be maintained for at least 5 years. The application to the National Migration Service is typically resolved within 30 working days, does not require the applicant’s physical presence during the process, and opens the door to Panamanian citizenship after five years as a permanent resident.

For citizens from more than 50 countries with diplomatic and economic relations with Panama, there is also the Visa of Friendly Countries, which allows investors to qualify with an investment of $200,000. Unlike the previous one, this route grants a provisional two-year residence permit first, after which permanent residency can be obtained.

A strong and growing economy

The Panamanian environment provides particular conditions for investment: the use of the US dollar (no exchange risk), a territorial tax system (only income generated within the country is taxed), no inheritance or estate tax, and the same purchasing rules for foreigners as for Panamanians, without quotas or mandatory local partners. This combination has positioned Panama as an attractive destination for long-term wealth planning.

Its economy is supported by international sectors such as the Canal, logistics, trade, transportation, tourism, financial services, and construction, and consistently exceeds the growth rate of much of Latin America. In 2025 the country grew by approximately 4.4%, and in the first quarter of 2026 it accelerated to 4.8%. Connectivity accompanies this pace: the Tocumen International Airport handled more than 20.7 million international passengers in 2025, while new investments in mobility and transportation continue to strengthen the connection between different areas of the city.

Amador, the sector with the greatest projection

Amador clearly represents this evolution. Its location at the entrance of the Panama Canal, along with projects such as the Panama Convention Center and Amador Cruise Terminal, is driving a new tourism, commercial and service dynamic in the area. Amador is thus consolidating itself as a meeting point between city, nature, tourism and international activity.

  • Proximity to the financial center and the city.

Baula Residences

It is precisely in this scenario that it is born BAULA Residences, designed to be part of the transformation of Amador and the new residential offer that accompanies the growth of this sector.

The project is developed by Sucasa Estate Developers, the new high-end brand of Grupo Sucasa: more than 55 years of experience and more than 35,000 homes delivered in Panama. Grupo Sucasa is a subsidiary of UNESA, a company that has been listed on the Latin American Stock Exchange since 1996 and that has continuously fulfilled its financial obligations since 1967.

Investing in Panama is participating in the evolution of a country that continues to strengthen its position as a hub for connectivity, business, and tourism in the region. And within that evolution, Baula offers a location that is, in itself, an asset.
